LDR Squared was formed in 2001 by Brian Smith OBE. His aim was to support and help organisations develop their workforce, and maintain a sustainable competitive advantage, using the knowledge he gained over many years in the private and public sector.
In 2001 whilst employed as CEO of a Taiwanese inward investor in the electronics industry, he was bestowed the OBE for “services to Education and Training”.
“The Taiwanese entrepreneurial and values culture allowed me to develop a business model that best suited the UK and I will always be grateful for that experience. Double Ten has a very significant meaning for the people of Taiwan as they celebrate the National Day of the Republic of China on 10 October.
“It marks the start of the Wuchang uprising of October 10, 1911 (10 Squared years ago). As a result of the Chinese Civil War, the Government of the Republic of China lost control of mainland China and relocated to Taiwan in 1949”.
“So I felt it was appropriate for LDR Squared to mark its tenth year by running a series of ten events sharing some of the lessons we have learnt and the solutions we have been able to develop over the last ten years.”
Brian Smith OBE, Managing Director
